THE CONTEXT
Trust for Hope is an NGO with a difference. It was established in the year 1997 with its headquarters in Trichy, Tamil Nadu. It has certain exclusivity that singles out from the rest of the NGOs in this part of the country. The concerns addressed primarily include man in society, extending to nature and environmental conservation. The basic premise is that India's inclination to chase the economic growth pursuits with market-led initiatives leave behind the poor, women and children and further marginalizes them from participating in the governance process or in declining their developmental aspirations. The growing rural-urban disparity, and wide-spread distress migration, and rising urban poverty levels stand testimony to this phenomenon – of lack of livelihood choices and opportunities in rural areas. The constant distortion caused to the earth and natural environment in search of economic growth has distributed the climate making seasons unpredictable, resulting in new kinds of diseases, and natural disasters of varied nature such as rising sea levels, tidal waves, earth quacks, floods, and so on. These are the concerns of Trust for Hope
